Quentin Blake returns to Bankside Gallery for the fifth year in a row, bringing a host of new work; all of which has been created since 2019, and most in the last year.
The 'Good Companions' of the title appear as portraits of inter-linked imaginary people, worked in coloured gel pen with wash, bringing sociability to the singular heads which have been a feature of his work in recent years. He explores companionship in many different forms in the exhibition, particularly the relationships between people and animals or birds: of which some are very clearly rooted in the natural landscape, while others invite the viewer to supply the context.
All artwork in the show will be available to buy, and proceeds from sales will be donated to Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration to support the charity's work as the UK's flagship Centre for the artform.
All sales enquiries are handled by Bankside Gallery. Please visit the Gallery website for further details and opening times.
