Art to be auctioned in aid of Hay Castle

Friday 3rd April 2015

Over 50 artists contribute works to raise funds for the historic site
uentin Blake joins a mix of artists from both sides of the English-Welsh border, and beyond, to present works for the auction being held on 11 April.  Organisers hope to raise funds for the restoration of the historic Hay Castle, at the town of Hay-on-Wye, Herefordshire, visited by thousands of book-lovers during the popular annual literary festival.
'The Underwater Seaside Family Quartet' (pictured) is Quentin's piece, joined by original works by Harry Potter illustrator Cliff Wright, Heap House illustrator Edward Carey, and cartoonists Rosie Brooks and Tony Husband.  There will also be etchings by Norman Ackroyd and Frances St Clair Miller and watercolours by Sophie Windham and Robert Macdonald as well as many more.

The auction will take place on Saturday 11 April, starting with a drinks reception and a chance to browse the exhibition of works before art expert Edward Clive auctions selected lots in a live auction.  Bidders who are unable to attend in person can also place their bids online or by telephone. See www.haycastleart.org/how-to-bid/ to find out more.
Tickets for the live auction are available for a suggested donation of £20, by phoning 01497 820 079.

An exhibition of all pieces in the auction is open at Hay Castle from Saturday April 4 to Saturday April 11, daily from 10am - 4pm.
