Saturday 1st August 2015
Online auction now live to benefit Great Ormond Street Hospital
Over the course of one year the infamous Bear With Me sketchbook travelled over 1000 miles by post and visited 30 children’s illustrators including Chris Riddell, Emma Chichester Clark, Lydia Monks and Sir Quentin Blake. The result was a unique story book about a beguiling bear named Lawrence, created to raise money for Great Ormond Street hospital.
Between October 2012 and November 2013, a sketch book was sent by post to 30 illustrators around the UK and each one of them continued the story about an adventurous red bear. Now the Bear With Me book (and some star doodles) is ready to be auctioned off to raise money for Great Ormond Street hospital. Click here to see progress and place bids in the auction, live on eBay for 9 days from 29 July 2015.
Quentin Blake's image of Lawrenece the bear (pictured) accompanies hia Foreword to the book. For more on the background to the project and a selected gallery of more of the illustrations, visit: www.theguardian.com
