'The Bulging Portfolio of Quentin Blake' at The Artworks, Halifax

Sunday 2nd April 2017

'The Bulging Portfolio of Quentin Blake' is a comprehensive exhibition of Britain’s best known living illustrator, Sir Quentin Blake, in Halifax, West Yorkshire.  Curated by Halifax-based illustrator Chris Mould,  a widely published author, illustrator and animator of children's stories, it explores Quentin's works with a number of his most prominent collaborators - Roald Dahl, Michael Morpurgo, Michael Rosen, John Yeoman and David Walliams - alongside projects for a variety of hospital settings, fine art prints and illustrations for James Blake's album 'The Colour in Anything'.
Quentin's artistic process is demonstrated in displays of rough and preliminary drawings, which show how he achieves the finished product.

During the run of the exhibition there is a wide programme of public workshops and Schools events with a special focus on illustration. There will also be two one-off workshops; ‘Drawing to stories’ bringing together illustrators and storytellers; and an ‘Art for Health’ event advocating and celebrating creative activities in patient recovery in partnerships Creative Minds and NHS SWYFPT.

The exhibition is free to enter, and is on show in the 1830 Gallery at The Artworks,  Shaw Lane, Halifax, HX3 9ET from 2nd April - 30th June 2017, Thursday to Sunday 12-3pm.  For more details visit: www.theartworks.org.uk
