'Be Part of Art' auction at the Royal Watercolour Society

Wednesday 30th January 2019

The Royal Watercolour Society has a rich and fascinating history since its formation in 1804.  In January 2019 paintings, letters, photographs and many other forms of historic
ephemera from its collection go on display for the first time in an exhibition 'Be Part of Art' at Bankside Gallery, the home of the RWS, to raise awareness of its importance to the past, present and future of British art.
Accompanying this is an auction of works by current members of the RWS, including honorary Fellow, Quentin Blake who has contributed 'An Outing with Auntie' (pictured above), and a secret postcard sale of over 100 specially-commissioned works by numerous influential British artists.  All works will be available in an online auction for the duration of the exhibition.   All proceeds from sales will facilitate the renovation of the new RWS gallery space at Whitcomb Street, just off Trafalgar Square.
The exhibition and online sale are open 30 January - 3 February 2019.  For more details see https://www.royalwatercoloursociety.co.uk/
