'Drawing a line under Torture': Freedom from Torture's online auction
Friday 24th October 2025
‘Drawing a Line under Torture’, the online auction from Freedom from Torture, returns this autumn. Over 60 creators from across the art world have generously donated their work to be auctioned to benefit the charity which supports and advocates for survivors of torture.
Bidding in an online auction opens on Monday 27 October, until 8.45 pm on Monday 10 November. Lots include works from Antony Gormley, Patrick Hughes, Quentin Blake, Jim Dine, Paula Rego, Howard Hodgkin and many more.
As well as works from celebrated artists, this online art auction also provides opportunity to bid on distinctive and entirely one-off works from Freedom from Torture’s lived experience clients, who have found sanctuary and solace in the creation and production of beautiful artwork.
Quentin commented: ‘Art has a wonderful way of lifting us up – reminding us that hope, kindness and creativity are never far away. The main reason I gave this drawing (pictured, above) is because I like it; it is quite light-hearted, but I hope it suggests that although we go on with our daily lives our situation may not be entirely secure. I am delighted to support this auction and I hope you will too. You will help survivors of torture find their light again, and have hope for a brighter future.’
Look out for Quentin’s work at Lot 18 in the silent auction.
Proceeds from the event are crucial to Freedom from Torture's work, helping survivors of torture to rebuild their lives. Across their five centres in the UK, the charity provides specialist psychological therapy, counselling and creative groups to help survivors to recover from their trauma.
