Quentin Blake & Emma Chichester Clark talk to Graham Norton

Sunday 22nd October 2017

To celebrate the forthcoming launch of their book 'Three Little Monkeys' in paperback (November 2017) Emma and Quentin appeared on Graham Norton's Saturday morning show on BBC Radio 2  - broadcast 21 October.

They discussed their work on the book (first published in hardback in 2016 by HarperCollins Children's Books) in which Quentin provided the text and Emma the illustrations, and how they had come to know each other as tutor and student at the Royal College of Art, where Quentin was head of the Illustration Department for over twenty years.

Discussing illustration as an art form, Quentin remarked that, in his view, it continues the traditions of fine art by retaining narrative - using drawing to express emotions.  Quentin went on to describe his own working practice, using pen and ink and a lightbox, before highlighting some of his current work - such as the exhibition of a his work with John Yeoman currently on show at House of Illustration in London, and new work for a forthcoming show in Suffolk (opening 2 December).
