Quentin Blake interviewed in 'Varsity'

Saturday 14th February 2015

Cambridge University student newspaper meets the artist in his London studio
Quentin spoke to Ellie Olcott about his days as a student at Downing College, studying English -  'I thought, if I go to Cambridge, I will carry on drawing, but if I go to Art School, I might stop reading!' - and that studying English contributed to his desire to be involved in the world of fiction.

Recounting his memories of working with his most well-known collaborator, Roald Dahl, he recalled being sent one of Dahl's sandals in the post with instructions that this is what 'The BFG' should be wearing on his feet.
During the interview, Quentin produced this special drawing (pictured) of three students eagerly poring over the pages of the 'venerable newspaper'
