Schools draw their own Zagazoo character with BBC Teach
Tuesday 17th December 2024
Following the launch of two new animated films in 'Quentin Blake's Box of Treasures' BBC Teach is using Quentin's picture book 'Zagazoo' to bring a fun, interactive drawing lesson to schools.
Join BBC Teach for a Live Lesson that dives into Quentin Blake’s magical world. In this art and literacy lesson designed for 7-11 year olds, students will step into the shoes of illustrators, bringing a brand-new character to life, inspired by Quentin's stories.
Challenge your students' comprehension skills, explore the hidden meanings that illustrations can reveal about book characters, and learn some simple drawing techniques.
The Quentin Blake’s Box of Treasures Live Lesson is being launched from 9am today (Tuesday 17 December), with the pre-recorded programme broadcast at 11am accompanied by a live website commentary feed for schools.
The Live Lesson is presented by Rhys Stephenson and Laura Hopkinson with the help of top illustrators, Vivian Truong and Dapo Adeola.
By the end of the lesson, children will be will ready to create their very own Zagazoo character, inspired by the animated specials and the original Quentin Blake illustrations.
The 30 minute Live Lesson is available to watch now on BBC Teach and at 11:00 on the CBBC channel and iPlayer. A teaching guide and activity sheets are also available to use alongside the broadcast.
