JP Martin’s adventures of Uncle, the friendly elephant in the purple dressing gown, were first told to the author’s children before being collected and published in six books from 1964 onwards. Uncle, his arch-enemies Hitmouse and the Badfort crowd were lovingly restored to printed form in 2014, with ‘The Complete Uncle’ omnibus, published after a crowd-funding campagn by fans of the series.
